Fitness Program Manager

Responsibilities include:

The Forest at Duke, a premier continuing care retirement community, is seeking an enthusiastic, self-directed individual to serve as the Fitness Program Manager for over 500 residents, and staff. This position involves being responsible for the development, planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive, integrated fitness program for participants. The Fitness Program Manager supervises all fitness staff and contract instructors and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Fitness facilities including a group-fitness studio, a fitness center with complete cardio and Keiser strength training equipment, and an indoor aquatics facility. Additionally, The Forest at Duke is in the process of renovating and expanding the existing fitness areas, which the Fitness Program Manager will also help manage.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field such exercise science, health promotion, or physical education.
- Current professional certifications with ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or other nationally recognized organizations.
- Enjoys working with older adults.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years related work experience with older adults with the ability to assess and understand the unique needs of older adults, including the aging process, disease, and disability as it relates to senior fitness and well-being.
- Must be able to maintain positive and effective working relationships with residents and staff.
- Substantial staff supervision and leadership experience.
- Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Exhibits a superior sense of customer service at all times.
- Public speaking skills and ability to lead large group presentations.
- Proficient computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Certified Water Rescue/Lifeguard Training.
- Certified Pool Operators Certification.
