Surprising truth about intergenerational wealth transfer

"Boomers are rolling in financial assets. But they are probably going to spend all their savings before they can pass anything down to their children," writes Ann C. Logue for Business Insider. In a fascinating and timely article, with links to relevant studies and related resources, Logue documents why the "great wealth transfer" from Boomers -- who currently hold about half of US wealth, although they make up only 17% of the population -- to their families is unlikely to take place, and if it does, why the main beneficiaries will be those who don't actually need the money.

Healthy aging toolkit facilitates evidence-based research

Australia's ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research and the University of New South Wales have launched the Healthy Ageing Toolkit. The toolkit, a website, is a repository of searchable information about aging cohort studies conducted around the world (current number of studies, 287) designed to support the study of healthy aging and its trajectories, as well as inequities related to healthy aging. Active-aging organizations may want to locate studies in their area of interest and contact the lead researchers about collaborations. Misleading info in 25% of most viewed YouTube COVID-19 videos

More than one in four of the most viewed English-speaking COVID-19 videos on YouTube contain misleading or inaccurate information, according to researchers from the University of Ottawa.
Public health misinformation on COVID-19 is reaching far more people than in previous pandemics such as the swine flu (HIN1) pandemic and the Ebola and Zika outbreaks and has considerable potential for harm, they warn. Organizations may consider implementing educational sessions to help residents, members and family assess what they're seeing and hearing in the media.

Tech Talk: Digital Health Indicator to accelerate global innovation

The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced that we are living in a global world with tremendous potential to connect people and organizations via technology. Reinforcing this perspective and aiming to maximize that potential, the non-profit Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), parent company of MobiHealthNews, recently launched the Digital Health Indicator. DHI is described as "an ecosystem that connects clinicians and provider teams with people, enabling (individuals) to manage their health and wellness using digital tools in a secure and private environment whenever and wherever care is needed." This is important because it moves all providers, in the US and elsewhere, into a global network.
