"Changing the Way We Age": ICAA supporters highlight "moving" journeys

It’s an image that illustrates the potential of older adults to challenge themselves and pursue goals. Active. Determined. Steadfast. Kathy Ramsay conveys all that and more in a photograph Touchmark sent to the International Council on Active Aging to help mark our 15th anniversary in fall 2016. Gay Elliott shared a story of two journeys and how they intersect. One focuses on her journey as a fitness professional and active-aging proponent; the other reflects on her personal journey of life and aging. Dedicated individuals and organizations such as Elliott and Touchmark have united with ICAA and each other to support the mission of Changing the Way We Age. ICAA Champion: Introducing Bruce Brown-5727

ICAA Champion: Introducing Bruce Brown

Bruce Brown "is a living testament to the power and potential of the human spirit," says Atria Senior Living’s Gigi Mauter. Brown, who will turn 80 next year, moved to Atria's community in San Juan Capistrano, California, in 1994. A stroke five years earlier had left him completely paralyzed on the right side of his body and unable to speak or walk. He was 52 years old at the time. "Bruce's passion for life, even in the midst of great loss, is an inspiration to those struggling under the weight of life's blows and challenges," states Mauter.
