ICAA names TLC by Leisure Care as its official travel partner
Association members will have access to turnkey travel package
Vancouver, BC (August 8, 2005)-Aging Baby Boomers and older adults consistently list travel as among their most desired retirement activities. Not only do age 50-plus individuals take more trips per year than those in other age groups, the vast majority travels with at least one companion, according to a 2002 RoperASW report prepared for AARP. By offering travel opportunities for the mature market, organizations that serve the wellness needs of adults ages 50 and older can promote greater well-being in their members or residents-and distinguish themselves from their competitors. The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world's largest trade association for the senior fitness and wellness industry, announces a partnership with TLC by Leisure Care(SM) that will help interested groups fulfill these aims. TLC is a travel provider created by Leisure Care, one of the largest privately owned operators of retirement communities in North America. As the ICAA's official Travel Partner, TLC will provide a turnkey travel package for the association's members.
TLC by Leisure CareSM offers reasonably priced, fully escorted vacation packages to older adults, as well as their families and friends of all ages. Setting TLC apart from other travel providers, the enterprise is committed to enhancing quality of life and promoting physical activity for clients. Furthermore, the TLC staff understands the needs of mature adults and aims to make every trip memorable. Examples have included snorkeling at Australia's Great Barrier Reef, private helicopter tours over active volcanoes in Hawaii, and riding elephants in nature reserves.
Through TLC, ICAA members can book leisure travel throughout the world for their members or residents (along with companions or caregivers). Management and staff can also use TLC's services. A key benefit: ICAA members can customize travel packages with their company names.
"The partnership between ICAA and TLC by Leisure CareSM is an exciting development for us," says Colin Milner, the ICAA's chief executive officer. "Active aging is about having the vitality to engage with the world and enjoy life fully in our later years. Through this new partnership, ICAA members will have access to a travel provider that offers high-quality services designed to ensure life-enriching experiences for older adults." Adds Milner, "We are delighted to name TLC by Leisure CareSM as our official Travel Partner."
"Everyone at Leisure Care is so happy to be a part of ICAA's vision of active aging for older adults," says Cecil Rinker, senior director of services for Leisure Care. "We are committed to providing many venues for people to age successfully. TLC travel services has proven that no matter how old you are the world is still yours to explore. From Disneyland to Sydney, Australia, age 12-92, TLC has enabled people to continue a fun and active lifestyle."
TLC's age-friendly services include, among others, escorted group travel for both independent older adults and those needing moderate assistance with activities of daily living, discounted costs for caregivers, and assistance with transportation, transfers, airport navigation and baggage handling.
