ICAA launches networking site for active-aging professionals

Members of ICAA’s global community can ‘connect and create’ online

January 6, 2009 (VANCOUVER, BC)—Active-aging professionals worldwide are gaining a powerful new tool for networking and collaborating when the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) launches its online community today. The ICAA Network, or ICAANET, is similar to other networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook. By logging in to ICAANET through the association’s website, members of the ICAA community are able to customize individual profiles, make contact with others who share their interests, create forums to discuss topics, upload videos, and more. What makes the site particularly valuable is its ability to match individuals based on their areas of interest. Through this online community, active-aging professionals will connect and create year-round, fostering a dynamic global industry.

ICAANET helps ICAA to fulfill its mission of connecting like-minded individuals who share the goals of changing society’s views of aging and improving quality of life for adults over 50 within the six dimensions of wellness. (This wellness model most commonly includes emotional, vocational, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social dimensions.) The association supports professionals who develop wellness centers and services for this age group. Visit www.icaa.cc for more ICAANET information.

About the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA)
ICAA is the world’s largest association dedicated to changing the way we age by uniting professionals in the retirement, assisted living, recreation, fitness, rehabilitation and wellness fields. The council supports these professionals with education, information, resources and tools, so they can achieve optimal success with the growing population of people who are 50 years and older. As an active-aging educator and advocate, ICAA has advised numerous organizations and governmental bodies, including the US Administration on Aging, the National Institute on Aging (part of the US National Institutes of Health), the US Department of Health and Human Services, Canada’s Special Senate Committee on Aging, and the British Columbia Ministry of Health.
