This course, based on Exercise for Older Adults and ACE's Guide to Resistance Training for Older Adults, teaches the essential information fitness professionals need to provide older adults with safe and effective fitness programming. The Exercise for Older Adults textbook covers topics ranging from the physiology of aging to techniques and tools for motivating and communicating with this growing population. Specific exercises suitable for older adults are also offered. The 26-minute DVD complements the text, illustrating effective resistance-training programming, from the importance of strength training to the special considerations that should be taken into account when designing strength-training programs for older adults. Upon completion of this course, you will have a clear and comprehensive knowledge of the older adult population and possess the appropriate instructional and communication techniques.
