How effective is exercise for maintaining bone?

Osteoporosis reduces both the quantity and quality of bone, which in turn increases the risk of fractures. Weight bearing exercise is a standard recommendation for preventing bone loss. A team of researchers was interested in examining whether exercise did prevent bone loss and fracture in postmenopausal women.
