Even regular exercisers sit too much

In 2011 when the American College of Sports Medicine updated its exercise guidelines (MSSE, 43(7) July 2011), the writing committee added that sedentary behavior—sitting for long periods of time—is distinct from physical activity and may be an independent health risk factor that is not moderated by physical activity. A new study compared the amount of time spent in sedentary activities to the time spent in physical activity.
