Lifestyle choices prevent diabetes, too
People who are overweight and have elevated blood glucose levels are at risk of acquiring diabetes. A large clinical research study, the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) showed that people who lost a modest amount of weight through dietary changes and increased physical activity reduced their chances of developing diabetes. The DPP lifestyle program was effective in a clinical setting, but would it work in the community?
