After weight loss, rates of diabetes and heart disease fall

Following the Cuban economic crisis of the early 1990s, food and fuel shortages resulted in a decline in dietary energy intake and large increases in physical activity. A research team wondered if this weight loss would affect population levels of diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
