Low back pain is primary cause of disability worldwide

Low back pain causes more disability around the world than any of the other 291 medical conditions cited in the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study, found a new analysis. At a global prevalence of 9.4%, low back pain (with and without pain radiating down the legs) was highest in terms of disability and sixth in terms of disability-adjusted life years (DALY), an estimate of the years of “healthy” life lost due to a disability.
