Mediterranean diet reversed, but did not prevent, metabolic syndrome

The metabolic syndrome is characterized by three or more risk factors for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. The Mediterranean diet emphasizes vegetables, fruits, fish and seafood, nuts and legumes.
