Launching April 2010

Tell your story, your way, on ICAA-TV

On April 1, 2010 the International Council on Active Aging will launch ICAA-TV. This new online service will provide ICAA members with access to streaming video interviews with industry experts who will discuss wellness program management, sales and marketing, management and operations, and community development and design, and present news from industry suppliers.

But most importantly, ICAA-TV invites you to share your news and views on active aging with ICAA members.

ICAA-TV video sharing video guidelines

At ICAA-TV we believe that your news and views gives us a better understanding of what's going on in the field of active-aging. That's why we have created the ICAA reporter program to enable you to share the stories that are important to you. ICAA reporter stories are not edited or fact-checked, but they are screened before they are posted.

You can also share your opinions about issues affecting the health and wellbeing of your business or your customers.

GUIDELINES:

Last updated: March 3, 2010

ICAA Services, Inc airs ICAA-TV throughout the year. ICAA-TV focuses on the health and well-being of organizations that cater to the older adult and the older adult themselves. Video reports are based on factual material or represent the experiences of contributors. Successful video reports emphasize the practical skills that professionals can use right away in their work to encourage active aging.

Video reports should be appropriate for a professional audience, in a simple style that is easy to grasp with explanations of terms and concepts.

Permitted time for video report: 2 minutes or less Please note: Videos over 2 minutes will not be accepted.

Audience

Our viewers are health and wellness professionals who work with older adults in retirement communities, assisted living facilities, health and fitness centers, recreational facilities (such as YMCAs and JCCs), rehabilitation practices, hospital wellness centers, hotel fitness/spas, and government (departments on aging in cities, area agencies on aging). Our audience also includes federal government departments and agencies, as well as researchers in academia. It's a diverse audience of people, who may or may not have a scientific background but are sophisticated and educated viewers. About 85% of our members and subscribers have at least post-secondary education; and they tend to be the decision-makers in their facilities: presidents, CEOs, owners, executive directors, wellness directors, and fitness directors.

The common denominator among viewers is the shared goal of helping individuals stay healthier and lead more active, engaged lives as they age. Our viewers are people who have made or who are making the transition to a different view of aging—successful aging—in which older adults enjoy health in all seven areas of wellness (intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, emotional, vocational, and environmental). People view ICAA-TV to find out what others are doing, as well as for ideas and guidance in implementation.
