ICAA announces changes to team

Kathie Garbe to serve as ICAA's Chief Of Research and Education Development. Dr. Garbe earned her PhD in health studies from Texas Woman's University, her Master of Science degree in health education from Illinois State University, and her Bachelor of Science degrees in both health education and physical education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Throughout her academic training, she focused on older-adult wellness and research concentrating on enhancing quality of life through education and disease management and prevention.

As a Professor of Health and Wellness, Dr. Garbe has spent more than 33 years working to build undergraduate wellness curricula, conducting community-based research in healthy aging, and creating and directing intergenerational wellness programs. One such program won the coveted State of Georgia Award for Outstanding Community Programs.

Dr. Garbe served on the ICAA Scientific Advisory Board and has been an active, contributing member to the association since 2007. Her passion, experience and leadership in aging programming, research and education will contribute to our initiatives and help guide them to success.
