Previous research on Tai chi, which is both a martial art and health/meditative practice, has shown that the movement form helps improve balance and thus reduce falls, improves sleep and aids osteoarthritis. The authors of a recent review wanted to look at the results of studies examining Tai chi’s effectiveness for medical conditions, such as cancer, high blood pressure and arthritis.
