Are the newer weight-loss drugs appropriate for older adults? by Marilynn Larkin, MA
Weight-loss drugs with brand names such as Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide) have taken the United States by storm, while interest is growing in other countries. Your constituents and staff may be talking about these medications and wondering if they should take them. As an active-aging professional, you can respond in ways that support your constituents' health and well-being. Beyond suggesting they consult a doctor, you can help them learn more about these drugs and reinforce how a healthy diet and regular exercise are vital, all while staying within your scope of practice.
