Stats: US economic burden of dementia to reach $781 billion

A project funded by the US National Institute on Aging reported that the total economic burden of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias will reach $781 billion this year. This first estimate and the subsequent updates from the newly released US Cost of Dementia Model will help scientists and policymakers better understand dementia's economic costs, spanning medical expenses, unpaid caregiving, earnings losses, and declines in quality of life. It is likely to be of interest to all active-aging and senior living management who have stakes in the costs of dementia progression.
