Vitamin and mineral supplements won't prevent heart disease

The goal of primary prevention is to stop disease before it starts by controlling risk factors, such as smoking, or building up resistance with a vaccine (Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada). Recognizing that many people take vitamin and mineral supplements for their health, researchers wanted to find out if supplements would prevent cardiovascular disease or cancer.
