Gen X is hitting a milestone: turning 60. It's a familiar tune, but with a Gen X twist.

Recently, an article caught my eye, shifting the spotlight from baby boomers to Gen X. The once-boomer-dominated realm of juggling aging parents and kids now belongs to latchkey kids raised on MTV and quick meals.
Now, the conversations are steering towards Gen X:
- Inheriting wealth from parents, reminiscent of the boomer era.
- Opting for downsized homes for freedom.
- Choosing to work longer out of preference.
- Redefining aging as active, tech-savvy, and entrepreneurial.
- Balancing caregiving across generations, affecting careers, finances, and emotions.
- Embracing a desire for enhanced living, sparking innovations in wellness, housing, travel, and lifestyle.
This shift isn't entirely new; it's a familiar melody played in a different key. Gen X observed their parents navigate these stages, now remixing it to match their ethos: self-reliant, skeptical, influential, and subtle.
If boomers were the "me" generation, Gen X embodies the "figure it out" ethos—quietly reshaping aging in a digital era.
As Gen X hits 60, history echoes, but with a touch of irony, a DIY spirit, and a digital edge.
The future holds the narrative of how Gen X will shape the next phase, not just for themselves but for the generations following, akin to the boomers' impact.
