Sharing memories improves memory

Reminiscence therapy involves encouraging people to share their memories and experiences, often using objects such as photographs and books as aids. The authors of a new study pointed out that reminiscence activity often occurs in a group. They wondered if the positive effects reminiscence appears to have on older adults was due to remembering, or to the social setting?
