Stats: Choosing your own step goal boosts activity by 1,400 steps daily
When people set their own exercise goals -- and then pursue them immediately -- it's more likely to result in lasting positive changes, a recent study shows. The results are especially important, according to the authors, because they were found among an underserved population at particularly high risk of having or developing heart conditions. So, it's something active-aging organizations should consider.
