The SHINE program scientifically examines six individual points of focus to create a holistic memory care plan that’s specially designed to fit each resident’s unique needs and abilities

Discovery Senior Living has announced the nationwide launch of SHINE, an exclusive memory care program designed and developed by the company. SHINE is a unique approach to memory care that uses scientific principles to promote engagement, comprehension, and lifestyle quality for seniors suffering from dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory-related diagnoses. Utilizing proven care methods and evidence-based decisions, SHINE ensures each resident’s program is tailored to their needs and abilities—one that will have the most impact in supporting and enriching their health, by providing them with the opportunity to enjoy their best life, every day.

Built upon a foundational principle of deep personalization, SHINE Memory Care incorporates six points of focus including communication, team member training, a “My Story” personalized biographical journey, an immersive dining experience, state-of-the-art neighborhood design, and life enrichment activities for enhanced personalized care to ensure every resident is comfortable, properly cared for, and set up to thrive each day.

“SHINE Memory Care was inspired by, and is dedicated to, millions of seniors and their families as they face the challenges and difficult decisions necessitated by a loved one’s memory-related condition,” said Richard J. Hutchinson, CEO, Discovery Senior Living. “Through the power of our exclusive SHINE Memory Care program, we will provide an immersive environment that’s specially designed to engage residents by personalizing care and programming specific to each resident’s unique needs.”

To help fulfill the program’s mission, SHINE Team Members nationwide are SHINE program certified and have completed extensive, specialized training in dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory-related diagnoses, and through the use of proven care methods and evidence-based decisions, are uniquely prepared to deliver dignified and compassionate care of the highest quality.

The SHINE Memory Care program will begin to roll out in 36 Discovery Senior Living communities nationwide beginning in early-October 2019.
