[NOT WORKING OUT] Mental health of US workers plummets

One in four US workers show signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); depression is up 87% and risk of addiction among men is up 80% since September. That's according to Total Brain's recently released "Mental Health Index: US Worker Edition - Q4 2021 Update." The report includes graphs showing the rise in pandemic-fueled trauma, and climbing stress levels due to the omicron variant. It also notes that worker resilience is down 7% in the past three months, while social anxiety spiked in men - up 162% since September and up 167% versus pre-pandemic numbers.

The full report includes insights on topics such as emotional awareness, non-conscious negativity bias, and feeling and cognitive capacities. While the company offers a platform for monitoring and supporting mental health and wellness in the workplace, numerous other options exist. What's important is that organizations recognize what is going on and take steps to reduce worker stress and anxiety, which interfere not only with health and well-being, but also worker productivity.
