The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) strives to change the way we age through its support for professionals who develop wellness and fitness facilities and services for age 50-plus adults. To be effective, ICAA turns to a range of advisors.
From CEOs to researchers to wellness directors, the 35-member ICAA Advisory Board reflects the diversity of roles and settings in the active-aging industry. Advisory Board members help steer the association in its daily operations and in its role as active-aging leader. These individuals will also participate in ICAA 2020, an initiative set up to create a vision for the industry’s future. Working with the ICAA Visioning Board, which will develop and present recommendations, the Advisory Board will identify priority actions that ICAA can undertake or facilitate to move the industry forward.
The ICAA Visioning Board is an international group of nearly 70 industry experts, who bring varied and valuable perspectives to their work of shaping a bold vision for the future of the active-aging industry. The Visioning Board supports the ICAA 2020 initiative, sponsored by Morrison Senior Living, by developing and presenting recommendations aimed at supporting the industry’s growth. These recommendations will be reviewed by the ICAA Advisory Board, which will identify priority actions to advance the industry.
The ICAA Strategy Sessions is a think-tank of invited industry leaders convened twice a year to develop the active-aging industry. Strategy Session participants discuss challenges facing many organizations in the industry, then recommend solutions. Through their efforts, these individuals help to set direction and identify actions that enable the industry to promote health, wellness and quality of life for older adults.
ICAA Work Groups are formed to fulfill specific projects arising out of the ICAA Strategy Sessions. Composed of industry professionals, these work groups have helped to develop such things as an inventory of wellness assessment tools, an online directory of successful programs, and the first-ever business benchmarks for the active-aging industry.
