Behavioral counseling urged for those with heart risks: USPSTF
The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has released updated guidance for adults with cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and metabolic syndrome. The recommendation is for behavioral counseling, an acknowledgment of the importance of lifestyle factors in reducing risk and support for a wellness-rather than a medical model-for prevention. Organizations can consider formalizing their lifestyle strategies with a specific behavior modification program.
